Restaurant recommendations around the theater district/Times square in New York City?

Whenever I come into NYC for a show I try to stay away from restaurants in this area. I usually head uptown, but next week I will be crunched for time. I refuse to go to a chain or a tourist trap. It doesn't have to be fancy. It could be a hole in the wall, but it has to be good and worth the time and money to go. Thanks!Restaurant recommendations around the theater district/Times square in New York City?

Definitely, positively, absolutely, go to Joe Allen's on W. 46th St.!!

It's a true theater-people hang-out and you'll have an incredible dinner there, while surrounded by actors and stagehands and other theater people galore.

The menu is great (see link, below), and my favorite thing about Joe Allen's is their Wall Of Shame, which is hung with posters for famous Broadway flops that opened and closed in, like, one week, like, for example, the Broadway version of the movie "Carrie!"

Seriously, though, Joe Allen is a real treat, and trust me, you won't be sorry you went there. Oh, and have the gorgonzola salad as your side salad, it's to die for!!

Good luck, and the link below is to their website...
