What to do in New York City?

I am going to NYC in the beginning of August and i need some help with things that i should do and see. I am only there for a week so i cannot do everything.What are some good restaurants and shopping places and sights to see. I wanna live the New York City way but still have tons of fun. Go to see some shows!!

Definitely at least one Broadway musical (btw, Avenue Q is closing, so you should try to see it before it does!), and also some off-broadway. Maybe some sketch comedy show. Most of them are less than $10, plus one or two drinks.

Then... Mmm. As crazy as it may sounds, NYC nightlife is nothing special. Actually I go out rarely at night, except when I perform or I go to see some show.

There are a lot of Museums... The Met is free with a suggested donation. The MoMA is free on friday afternoons.

Take the A train to High street and watch the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridge and the Manhattan skyline.

Enjoy an "Italian" dinner in Little Italy (most restaurant there are still owned by Italian Americans, but not all of them, watch out!).

Can't think of anything else, right now.
