Can you play ps3 multiplayer games with windows of the same game?

I've got a solid windows-steam game setup that I really like, but some of my mates have PS3. I can get the same games they play on ps3 (most) for windows, but will I be able to play multiplayer with them?

2. This question isn't "retarded". a webmaster friend said the idea of adobe and macromedia combining products was ridiculous. but it happened.

The answer is NO. The reasons are PS3 is sony, and they don't like Microsoft they challenge them with everything they build. Computers are a main problem with aimbotters, and modded maps, because you can't mod a map on PS3 or XBOX they don't like to cross platform them.
