I need to send my ps3 in because of a powering off problem. I heard that you lose everything ( game saves, data, trophies ) from sending it in.How can i keep my game saves on my ps3 if i need to get it serviced?Take a flash drive, if you have a large one or an external one with a USB connection.
Plug it into a USB port, then go to System Settings %26gt; Backup %26gt; Backup to USB
Then when you get your refurbished console back from Sony six weeks later, just plug it back in through the USB. Then, System Settings %26gt; Backup %26gt; Restore from USB
Then you're all set
Of course if you are looking to save time, money, and have someone do that for you, just look for a good third part ps3 repair company:

Your PS3 won't lose it's save-data once they fix it but they usually always send you a different console so your save-data will be gone no matter what. How can i keep my game saves on my ps3 if i need to get it serviced?Your best bet is to copy your save files to an external HDD...install files will be erased regardless but at least you'll still have your save files....unless they're copy protected saves...like Rock Band 2...those won't be able to be transferred
