Activities? Average weather? Must-sees? Tips for NYC at the end of December?

My family and I are (finally!) planning a trip to New York City for the end of December 2011. We will be staying there a week and are sticklers for planning in advance and saving up. Are there any tips, must-sees, activities that we should be aware of?

I know this year there was crazy cold occurring, but what is the norm for NYC at the end of the year?

Also, being as there and 6 girls in our group, we NEED to shop, but we aren't rich. Are there any stores where we can go shopping such as Nordstrom Rack, Forever XXI, anything of the sort?

Also, I am a Die hard Foodie. What are some things that I MUST try while in NYC. I know, simply because I am a tourist, I'm going to end up having a street hotdog LOL, but really, what restaurants should I try to get to while there?Activities? Average weather? Must-sees? Me and my fiance just went for New Years Eve and finally took a sightseeing tour bus for the first time.. I admit, I was a bit skeptical at first but it was actually really great! It was a hop-on hop-off bus so there were about 18 stops just on the downtown tour that you can get off at and walk around and explore, then get back on and finish the tour. The tour guides tell you so much information about the history of the city, where celebrities live, and other cool random facts. Our last tour guide sang to us pretty much on the whole trip, lol.

As far as shopping, there are places everywhere! There is a Forever 21 right in Times Square. There is also a great store called Century 21 by the Trade Center Site that has designer clothes for a discounted price.

Also, on 9th Ave around 50th street etc, there are a lot of cheap restaurants! They all have the menus outside the restaurant so you can check things out before you go in. You also MUST go to John's Pizza right off of TImes Square-it is amaizinggg=]

As far as sites to see, I highly suggest Madam Tussuad's Wax Museum, in addition to all of the other touristy sites around there.Activities? Average weather? Must-sees? Tips for NYC at the end of December?
Here's a good online resource to help plan your trip: http://www.nyctouristcenter.com

You'll probably want to head down to Chinatown to do some shopping. Just do a quick google search about shopping in Chinatown and you'll find lots of helpful sites.

Make sure you get some pizza %26amp; bagels while you're in town!Activities? Average weather? Must-sees? Tips for NYC at the end of December?
My friend, you're going in December, which is in the winter and the average temperature are in the 20 to 30 degrees F (-10 to 0 degrees C). Therefore, plenty warm clothes is highly recommended. The link below has all the information you need to know about winter in New York City.
