Favorite boutiques, cafes, restaurants, etc in NYC?

I'm a teenager going to New York next week. I want to go to the following:

topshop

Parsons the New School for Design

rockefeller center (ice skating)

central park

dylans candy bar

china town

I know most of the big monuments, but what are the little things people don't know about?Favorite boutiques, cafes, restaurants, etc in NYC?
If you're going to Chinatown, I would definitely try to make to Shanghai Garden 14A Elizabeth St. I've been going there since I was little, and always have a great meal.

There are many delicious dishes on the menu, but if you had to order 1 or two things, I would get the soup dumplings or the chive/pork dumplings. They're unlike any dumplings I've had anywhere else (including my mother's).

I would also check out some neighborhoods in Brooklyn to get some real flavor of New York. Manhattan seems to be overrun with New York transplants, which has sort of lent to the homogenization of the New York I remember. Head out to Prospect Heights, Park Slope, Fort Greene, and Coney Island if you have the chance. It's well worth the experience (and bragging rights!).
