Top Tips wanted for a NYC trip?

I'm heading over to New York from Scotland next week and really want to make the most of the 6 days I'll be there so I'm looking for some advice.

We have purchased a New York City Pass in advance - what are the must see attractions?

I'm keen to do some shopping while I'm there and am looking for some good vintage stores as well as some independent boutiques where I can pick up nice dresses and tops, are there any areas that are particularly good for this kind of store?

I want to visit some markets also, i'm especially interested in picking up some jewellery, scarves, bags etc could you recommend any?

Lastly, it will be Mother's Day (in the UK) while we're there so can anyone recommend a nice restaurant I can take her to on a Sunday night?

Thanks in advanceTop Tips wanted for a NYC trip?
Battery park is really nice, nearby is the statue of liberty which is cool

Times square is cool for tourists to see, it's very loud and theres lots of stores (not clothing, hersheys/m%26amp;m/souvenir stuff).

Greenwich village is awesome and probably has a lot of great vintage stores

SoHo probably has a ton of vintage stores that sell everything, its also right near chinatown which has a lot of cheap scarves/bags/jewelry/etc. and chinatown is an experience, i suggest visiting it. you can also try bubble tea there, which is pretty weird (its tea with tapioca balls). i like it, a lot of people dont. i highly doubt they have that in scotland.

Madison avenue from like the 50s-80s has a ton of stores, theyre pretty expensive though.

I don't think theres any outdoor malls this time of year, often there are street fairs on broadway (on the upper west side) and you can buy stuff there.

restaurants:

jean georges is super expensive french food, is really really nice and its famous (but REALLY expensive). its good

Daniel is also super expensive. its famous and has great food.

the chinese restaurant Chef Ho's on around 90th and 2nd avenue is great. it's not very expensive but the food is delicious and its a nice place to eat. i recommend the broccoli in garlic sauce, eggplant in garlic sauce, moo shu chicken, chicken and peanuts, sesame noodles. actually most things are great there, thats just what i order when i go. i love that restaurant and if you're staying in that area and like chinese food i recommend it.

Theres a thai restaurant next to chef ho's (not sure what its called) and it's also good. i prefer chinese food to thai food but if you like thai its great

le refuge is a french restaurant on like 82nd and the east side, it's great too. i think its more expensive then the chinese/thai

sarah beth's is a great place for lunch, also on the upper east side.

lots of areas other than the upper east side have amazing food, i just live here so those are the restaurants i know.

There's TONS of good restaurants in new york. i don't know where you'll be staying, but if you google restaurants new york and the zip code of your hotel you'll probably find a lot of restaurants near your hotel and reviews of them all.

also, whats a new york pass?

do you mean a metrocard?Top Tips wanted for a NYC trip?
Williamsburg in Brooklyn has vintage shops and markets. The people there are very trendy, it reminded me of Brighton in England.

The sex and the city tour was amazing! You get off the bus, have cosmopolitans, eat cupcakes and visit lots of places. Go to the spotted pig for dinner, its lovely, apparently Jamie Olivers friend owns it. http://thespottedpig.com/

I loved going up to top of the rock, as you can see the empire state from up there, and the zeffer boat trip around the bottom of the island.Top Tips wanted for a NYC trip?
There are lots of activites to do in New york and within 6 days, you will able to do LOADS !! The activites i recommend that you do are :

Shopping:

5th Avenue (Abercrombie and Fitch, Apple Store etc.)

Chinatown (Canal Street) Mostly for fake goods but I recommend a restaurant that celebrities eat in called The Little Dumpling House if you are staying there long

Times Square It is best at night ! There is a massive Toys R Us there with a ferris wheel and a real life Barbie Doll House ! Other attractions there are:

Madame Tuassauds (which is waxworks of famous celebrities),

Broadway Shows - if you are planning to go to one, make sure you get them before you go as you will end up paying over 200 dollars for one ticket !

For Mother's day I would recommend going to a restaurant in Times Square called Bubba Gump's. This is a restaurant with a theme of the movie Forest Gump. The atmosphere here is great and i also highly recommend the food aswell.

These are just a couple of places I would recommend.
