Should I spend the money?

My boyfriend is coming to visit me in NYC in a few weeks. I really really feel for him, and want to treat him. We went to Iceland together in January, I visited him in England in April and now he's come to see me and then I move to England for school in September.

I have never dined at a VERY nice restaurant, nor have I gotten really dressed up for such an event, but should I spend 200$ on a meal for the both of us, here?

if u think that's good for u. it's fine.
The best memories in a relationship often don't involve a 200$ bill. Usually the more stress/expectation free the better. A romantic picnic under the stars or dinner in a place with a live band have more chances of healing things up between you two.

However if it's the gastronomic experience you're after then go for it. If the food delivers it's worth trying the experience. Is your boyfriend a foodie? Does he get excited about food? If he doesn't then I suggest finding some other new experience you'll both enjoy.

I also suggest you read online reviews before going. Urbanspoon is a great source as it hosts user and critics reviews as well as pictures of the food: http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/3/38417/restaurant/New-York/DUMBO/The-River-Cafe-Brooklyn

While browsing the reviews for River Cafe, I see a couple that went there for a 1 year anniversary and left with a bad taste in their mouth because of the bad service.

I hope this helped.Should I spend the money?
Expensive dinners can be fun. Get me as a boyfriend and I'll be happy with mac n cheese lol.

Spend it! You deserve the fun experience :)
I would recommend Stoney River if u wanto save money. If you really want a top of the line resturant try the palm steakhouseShould I spend the money?
Sure you can spend money in New Work City.
Not here. There are better places in NYC than the River Cafe to eat.
Umm I would never spend that much on food... I mean its just food!!! Does it have to be that expensive.. that's a lil crazy
