Serious Career Advice: I love my job and I don't want to leave but . . .?

I work at a very upscale restaurant in NYC and I absolutely love working there. Compensation is rewarding, hours are generous, people are kind, management is fair, plenty of benefits. However, a few weeks ago, I started getting a feeling that my boss was going to fire me soon. Because of my irrational fear and my impulsiveness to take action, I decided to look for another job just in case I was right. I found a job at a restaurant hotel that has not yet opened, but very promising according to press and new york time reviews. I am offered double shift as server and a room service server.

It has been three weeks, and I'm finally starting to get a notion that they were never going to fire me at all. I am attached to my job, it is like my second home and the people here are like my family.

I don't know whether I should stay here where my heart belongs, or give them two weeks notice and and challenge myself to a new place. Someone please help me! Any advice is appreciated.Serious Career Advice: I love my job and I don't want to leave but . . .?
I wish I had a straight answer for this but it really depends on what your priorities are. I would suggest you start by making a list of reasons why you would want to switch. What can this new job have in store for you that your current job doesn't offer?

For example, is the pay better at the new restaurant hotel? Are there opportunities for growth? Is this a lateral switch, meaning you'll be doing the same thing you do now or is this a better position, like a promotion? Is it a more convenient commute from your home? If you can actually come up with a list of reasons to switch or at least three good ones, then consider making the switch. It is always nice to gain new experiences.

On the other hand, you seem quite happy. If you can't think of good reasons to switch, stay where you are! It looks good if you work at one place for many years.

Also, how easy will it be to go back to where you came from if you are unhappy down the line?

Hope I gave you some things to think about! =)
