Must-See in NYC for summer trip?

I'm (18 yrs old) going on a trip to NYC this summer with my mom (44 yrs old) and grandmother (60's). We're going for about a week. I want suggestions of places to go and see. I want the typical tourists places, but I also want places that the natives know of as well. I want shopping, restaurants, museums, streets, parks, shows, anything!

Please Help :)

Summer is THE best time to be in NY!

i'l just give you a list of places you can visit :-

1. Cony Island - it is a nice beach place.

2.Then you would want to visit Manhattan..its what NY is all about! ..Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Empire State Building.Don't miss out on the walk in the Central Park if you want to spend some nice quiet time.

3. Some nice restaurants would be - Vincent's (amazing pasta place), Marriott in Manhattan( the top most floor- it revolves !! its amazing..u get to see the entire view of NY as u eat!) , Jaya - thats in manhattan too --its this indian-thai eating place..nice food, PF Changs, The Cheesecake Factory, DONT forget to try out food from the delis in NYC like falafels and all.. u'l know when you get there :D

4. Shopping! you can do that ANYWHERE lol... main places where u can good deals are Macy's in the city. or maybe Forever 21.. some pretty big stores out there.
