If you like Italian food, there is always Little Italy. Mulberry Street has restaurant row. LaMela Restaurant has an original approach: you walk in and sit down. They have wine on the tables already. They ask if you want appetizers, then they bring them. If you want pasta, they bring three different types. If you want meat, they bring three different types. You could also order from the menu, but it isn't as much fun.
If you want to stay off the beaten path, try Villa Masconi in the village on MacDougal Street.Good restaurants for mid price range in NYC, no tourist ones please!?
There is a site called Tastespace.com that gives you restaurant options in most of the city. The choice of price range, area, and restaurant scenery is listed to help you as well. It also depends on your definition of mid price and what types of food you are into. Time Square screams "snatch all tourists money," but the bright lights while you're getting a Cold Stone Ice Cream after a good time at BBQ's doesn't always hurt. That prices can range between $20-$30. There's Sushi Samba, Cosi's (then again its like $10 for an awesome SANDWICH), Serendipity 3, and Brazil Grill. They should all have websites or contact information. Good luck on your food search.Good restaurants for mid price range in NYC, no tourist ones please!?
You should try Restaurant Pour Touristes. Don't let the name fool you, it's actually full of tourists.
