I plan on going next summer for about a week. I won't do much shopping(if any), or eating in fancy restaurants, or any restaurants much, honestly. I'll probably do alot of sightseeing, window shopping, and eating at places like subway or small diners haha. Not including the plane ticket or the sleeping arrangements, how much should I bring?

There's at least one ATM (and usually three or four) on pretty much any block in NYC. Money's there when you need it, there's no reason to travel with a bunch of cash.

I'm going to be in NYC next spring. Should I buy Devils tickets now, or walk-up?
Would I get seats to the Devils/Islanders game below face value outside the building? There are no Rangers home games that week. Also are there good restaurants or sports bars around the Prudential Center to hit before the game? I've never been to Newark.I'm going to be in NYC next spring. Restaurant for a nice evening out,is it that good?
Ok, I admit that being disabled I spend too much time at home and watch some shows that I wonder "why?", but I have become addicted to the Gordon Ramsey show on BBC where he takes a week to clean up a totally horrible restaurant and make it wonerful. In one of his restaurants in London he quickly was awarded 3 Michilan (SP) stars immediately. I find out now he has 3 expensive restaurants in NYC. Wondering if anyone has been there, and are they that good, and as I'm going to London, are the restaurants worth the 3 stars as I believe there are only 4 as the top. I do love to listen to him swear on his show all the time.Restaurant for a nice evening out,is it that good?

Question about NYC dinning?
My family and I (Mom, Dad, Brother, and Myself) are visiting the city for a week in October and I'm the only person in the family who's visited before, but it's been about 3 years since I was last there and I was just a guest (I didn't plan anything). This time I'm the one hosting/planning the trip but the only thing I'm having problems with is where to eat for dinner. I don't want to take them to typical touristy restaurants or chain restaurants that can be found anywhere (Applebee's, Olive Garden etc) I'd like to take them to some good authentic NYC restaurants. Can anybody suggest a few? My family has no particular preference for a certain kind of food and we're all over 18.Question about NYC dinning?
NYC is a great place to go! They have such a variety of different places for everyone. Here's what I suggest from my experience,
- Cafe Espanol
Great spanish food from Spain! It is very authentic and traditional. They have an outdoor eating area where you can watch the bustling street.

They have seafood/ italian food. It is very modern and contemporary. If you like seafood definitely check this place out!

Beautiful inside! Absolutely stunning. Very modern inside and a great place. Can become pretty crowded though so I suggest to make reservations. Very expensive though, and not a good place for kids, but a great place to go with a group or date. Very classy and formal, jackets required. If you are looking for something very formal and elegant then go here, it wont disappoint. Although, be prepared to spend some cash. French restaurant

Very casual, affordable, laid back place to hang out and have a nice meal in. Italian restaurant. Pastries are to die for! Love this place for lunch! Great for going with friends or family.

Famous American restaurant. The atmosphere is very warm and comfortable. Old school. Jackets are mandatory for men. I suggest the roast pork loin. Delicious food. I would really recommend it. It's not too pricey but is a great place for family. Dress code is formal, remember to follow it or you won't have such a great experience there.

Shopping - 34th Street. Make sure to visit Manhattan Mall (32nd Street and 6th Avenue) as well. Also for cheap designer clothes, go to Century 21 Department store (located across the street from the World Trade Center site). Fifth Avenue (from the upper 40s to the upper 50s) also has a lot of stores (i.e. Saks Fifth Avenue, Tiffany's, etc.)
Restaraunts - There are so many to choose from. It really all depends on what type of food you (and your BF) like. :) Go to Citysearch.com. It includes reviews from customers and may help you.

there's a very wide variety of choices in NYC, so it depends on what type of food.
for chinese food, theres Ollie's on 84th and Broadway (another on 68th and boradway). Also China Fun on 72nd and Columbus. these tend to not be fancy though.
for italian food, there's Coppola's West (and East, depending on if you're on the east or west side in manhattan)- the west side one is on 79th between broadway and amsterdam. there's also Sambuca (72nd between Columbus and Central Park West) and Bar Balud (63-64th street, right across from Lincoln Center)
there are also various diners all over the upper east and west sides, so if you're looking for places to eat lunch, these can be fulfilling :)
Times Square is a really awesome place to walk around (especially at night). the lights are very cool and its ALWAYS busy.
Central Park is a little more serene, and you can just walk around or go on a carriage ride (be careful, the horses are kind of smelly). There's Sheep's Meadow, which can be really nice for a picnic on a good day, and many ponds which are nice to walk around.
Also various zoos, the Bronx/Brooklyn Botanical Gardens (if you're looking for something with nature). More recreational spots would be Empire State Building (of course), Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Staten Island (which includes a ferry ride), Madison Square Garden (for basketball games or concerts), Chelsea Piers, Leisure Time Bowling, and movie theaters. Since it's near Christmas time there's a huge tree in Rockefeller Center which is lit up and very cool. you should also see a Broadway play if you have time!
shopping- 5th and Madison Avenues are nice but tend to be a expensive. There's Herald Square (largest Macy's in the world), Union Square, Queens Center Mall, Roosevelt Field Mall (very big but in Long Island), and the Manhattan Mall.

Good Moroccan AND Israeli food in NYC?
Can somebody tell me where i can get some good/authentic moroccan food, as well as Israeli in NYC? I am coming to NYC next week for a few days and am in love with mediterranean food. I have eaten my fair share of spanish, italian, greek (in the city) and have yet to really eat a real good couscous or hoummos in NYC? (well, i have never really eaten any, so i can't really say 'have yet to ...')
I am looking for a combination of the two or simply two restaurants

I think the first answerer meant Rectangles, which is located on First Avenue, between 74th and 75th Streets (212) 744-7470. It serves Moroccan and Israeli foods. I believe it has a bar.
Another restaurant is Galil, on Lexington between 84th and 85th (212) 439-9886. It serves Moroccan food. I highly recommend this restaurant.
If you plan on venturing out of Manhattan, the outer boroughs have places to offer, too:
Queens
Hapisgah 147-25 Union Turnpike (718) 380-4449 (serves Moroccan/Israeli and is also a steakhouse and has a full bar)
Grill Point 69-54 Main Street (718) 261-7077 (serves Israeli food and is mainly a takeout place with some tables for sitting)
Bronx
Riverdelight Deli %26amp; Middle East Restaurant
3534 Johnson Avenue, Riverdale (718) 543-4270 (for take out and sit down dining)
One thing to remember: Except for Rectangles, all of these restaurants are Glatt Kosher and will be closed to observe Shabbat from Friday evening through Saturday night. These would be great places to go to on Sunday and during the week.
